SOWING

Every lost person receiving a witness

To fulfill the Great Commission, we must sow down the Gospel in North America. Our mission field is becoming increasingly secular and pluralistic. We cannot assume that people understand the concepts of God as the Creator, sin, the cross, and salvation through Christ. We must share the Good News and the truth of Scripture in every way possible. We must reach our neighbors and the nations. We must sow among the people groups of North America and identify receptive people.

Just imagine what would happen if Alabama Baptists joined hands to take the Gospel to every home in their communities; if lost people heard a complete presentation of the Gospel multiple times; if all people groups in our state and nation heard the Good News in their own heart language; and if communities were transformed as churches became involved in servant evangelism activities. Together we can see this take place.

Sowing

BIBLICAL BASIS

In Luke, we read Jesus’ parable of the sower: "A sower went out to sow his seed. As he was sowing, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the sky ate it up. Other seed fell on the rock; when it sprang up, it withered, since it lacked moisture. Other seed fell among thorns; the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. Still other seed fell on good ground; when it sprang up, it produced a crop: 100 times [what was sown]." As He said this, He called out, "Anyone who has ears to hear should listen!" (Luke 8:5-8, HCSB).

In John 4:3, Jesus tells His followers, “For in this case the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’” (HCSB). Paul reminds us, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth” (I Cor. 3:6, HCSB). We are to be about the business of sowing, and leave the results to God!
